It's a pleasure to introduce you to Slam Poet, twenty year- old Emily Rodrigues, a young ambassador for spoken word poetry in Portsmouth. She will be undertaking a mentoring role for 14-25 year olds as part of a new initiative coming to The Base at The Guildhall in March. Emily will be showcasing her talents in 'Slam at The Emporium' and hoping to win a place at the Cheltenham Poetry Festival.

Emily is a spoken word poet passionate about exploring emotions, societal issues, and themes of resilience through her poetry.

She is a dual sport athlete competing in 2 model dominated sports - powerlifting and American football. Her work often touches on personal experiences and topics such as identity, mental health, and overcoming adversity. Having recently begun her journey in spoken word, Emily brings a raw and authentic voice to the stage, captivating audiences with her ability to connect through storytelling.

Slam at The Emporium' takes place on Thursday 20th February at The Emporium Bar Southsea. Show starts at 7.30pm.
