Writer: James HareJames Hare

Have you ever dreamed of sharing your poetry on screen? Well, here's your chance....

Pompey Poetry Party is delighted to open submissions for Big Screen Poetry coming to Guildhall Walk in October 2025!

Big Screen Poetry is part of IN OUR WORDS, a year-long festival of literature, literacy, and storytelling which is designed to inspire, engage, and connect people of all ages.

To celebrate National Poetry Day on October 2nd, we've teamed up with Portsmouth Creates to celebrate the magic of the written and spoken word.

Local poets are invited to share a short video of themselves performing an original poem of their own for The Big Screen.

Watched by more than a 25,000 weekly passing audience, this is an exciting way for poets to showcase their talent and engage with people who may not typically read poetry.

Poets are invited to submit a video between 2-3 minutes in length. Successful applicants will have their film shown throughout the day on National Poetry Day.

Deadline for all submission >>>> 27th June 2025.

If you would like to be a part of this project please read the rules highlighted below and see how to submit your film here >>> Upload to wetransfer.com to info@habibur.uk and sheq_habib@hotmail.com
